At Carverdale, the purpose of this ministry is to impact people’s lives with the Word of God so that we can fulfill Jesus command in Matthew 9:38 (KJV).
Our Mission
To welcome people into God’s Kingdom, empower them through God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, and equip them to live victorious lives in Christ.
Our Vision
To be a thriving, Spirit-led church where individuals and families grow in faith, connect in authentic relationships, and serve the world with love and excellence.
Our Story
Carverdale Community Fellowship Church has been serving Northwest Houston for decades. Elder Charles Ellis Solomon founded the Carverdale Community Church of God in Christ over 61 years ago, initially opening on Morocco Street with Elder Leroy Felder’s help. The church later moved to Zeke’s Barbeque Place on Sussex. Sister Lovie Johnson became the first member, and Mother Georgia Wade the first church mother.
In 1963, Papa Wade contributed to purchasing land on Triway Street, where Elder Solomon broke ground for a new building. Members celebrated by marching from Sussex Avenue to Triway Street. Services began there the same year, and the church grew as people from various communities joined.
Elder Solomon passed away on May 20, 1977, and in July 1977, Elder Freddie L. Solomon was appointed pastor. Despite challenges, Pastor Freddie led the church to flourish, growing its membership and initiating new construction. Land on Algiers Street was purchased for a larger facility, which opened on October 19, 1996.
Today, the church continues to grow, with expanded ministries supporting causes like the Mission of Yahweh, Northwest Houston Impact Center, and an Ethiopian School. In 2022, Pastor Solomon was elevated to Superintendent of the Love Central District under Texas Southwest First Jurisdiction.
The legacy of Elder C.E. Solomon and Supt. Freddie Solomon reflects a strong foundation of faith and leadership. The church remains committed to its mission, honoring its history while reaching out to impact lives beyond its walls. Glory to God for His continued blessings!
What We Believe
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the foundation for life and faith.
Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
The church is the body of Christ, called to worship, grow, and serve.
Every believer is gifted to contribute to the mission of the church.
Prayer, outreach, and discipleship are essential to spiritual growth.
Our Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.
We believe that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.
We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.
We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for Him.
We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.
